Jaipur. New reports have revealed that former Australian spinner and current captain of Rajasthan Royals, Shane Warne, had lobbied hard with BCCI to make his current girlfriend Liz Hurley the new coach of Indian cricket team. Warne is said to have got the “deal” almost clinched, but somehow some last minute changes saw Zimbabwean cricketer and former English coach Duncan Fletcher being appointed as the new coach.

“Warne had argued that Liz was a foreigner, fair skinned, understood all the rules of the game, and had all the ability to ‘inspire and motivate’ the boys when they were down – qualities that BCCI had been looking for in the new coach,” a BCCI source confided to Faking News, “He further argued that there was nothing in the rule book that stipulated that the coach necessarily had to be of the same sex as the members of the team. He gave example of Chak De India.”
BCCI sources confirm that the candidature of Elizabeth Hurley, the former British model and actress, was indeed discussed in the board meetings, which saw the members animatedly discussing her CV and asset points, with a few members supporting her candidature over Duncan Fletcher.
“See, Fletcher became coach of England when their national team was looking down and out at the bottom of test rankings, while Indian team is at peak right now,” explained a BCCI member who supported Liz Hurley, “Fletcher seems to come good with people making a mess of their lives, while Hurley seems to come good with people doing good in their lives – Hugh Grant, Arun Nayar, or Shane Warne.”
“And she could have easily fit into the shoes of an athletic Gary Kirsten as compared to a rather plump Fletcher,” the BCCI member added, appearing rather serious.
Sources further inform Faking News that Liz Hurley lost to Duncan Fletcher by just one vote.
“I think if Lalit Modi had not been suspended from the BCCI, we might have had her selected,” said the BCCI member on conditions of anonymity.
